Patrue, mi Patruissimo

February 21, 2010

Gamble everything for love,

if you’re a true human being.

Half-heartedness doesn’t reach

into majesty. You set out

to find God, but then you keep

stopping for long periods at

mean-spirited roadhouses.

~ Rumi ~

Surrender Bowl: Find a small bowl that appeals to you. In the morning, fill it slowly from the tap, asking that all of you, dark as well as light, be used to serve Spirit. In the evening, go outside and slowly pour the contents on the ground, letting go of the day, asking Spirit to fill your emptiness at night.

  1. Love the poem, love the ritual. “Mean-spirited roadhouses” — gawd, we’ve all been in a few of those, haven’t we? Rumi rocks.

  2. Rumi – always a winner, no matter the day, no matter the mood, no matter the situation. This one is worthy of being tattooed on the inside of eyelids!

And as for the ritual… this couldn’t have come on a more perfect day. They say when the student is ready, the guidance will come and I needed this very much. Bless you!
