4 servings

2 fennel bulbs
1/3 Savoy cabbage
200 ml/0.85 cup cooked farro
Chives, chopped
200 ml/o.85 cup vegetable stock
100 ml/0.42 cup dry white wine
2.5 tsp gelatin powder
Extra-virgin olive oil

– Slice the fennel finely and braise it in a little olive oil. Don’t forget to salt it. When the fennel is soft, add half of the wine and cook until it’s reduced to half.
– Put the fennel on a plate and pour the remaining liquid into the vegetable stock and leave it to cool down a bit.
– Shred the Savoy cabbage finely and repeat what you made with the fennel.
– Mix the gelatin (see instructions on the package to get the perfect measure) with the hot stock and dissolve it well.
– Take 4 small ramekins or forms, preferably on the tall side and proceed to make the ‘tower’. Sprinkle some chopped chives as a first layer and then a layer of braised fennel. Next layer is the farro and then one of chopped chives. Follow up with a layer of savoy cabbage and then one of farro. Finish it with a layer of fennel. Push down each layer a little to make it more solid.
– Pour the stock into the forms until it covers the vegetables.
– Put the form in the fridge for about 3 hours or more.
– Before serving you dip the forms quickly in hot water and then pass a sharp and thin knife around the edges before turning them up-side-down on plates.

Farro for Set

Grano Farro has a long and glorious history: it is the original grain from which all others derive, and fed the Mediterranean and Near Eastern populations for thousands of years; somewhat more recently it was the standard ration of the Roman Legions that expanded throughout the Western World. Ground into a paste and cooked, it was also the primary ingredient in puls, the polenta eaten for centuries by the Roman poor. Important as it was, however, it was difficult to work and produced low yields. In the centuries following the fall of the Empire, higher-yielding grains were developed and farro’s cultivation dwindled: By the turn of the century in Italy there were a few hundreds of acres of fields scattered over the regions of Lazio, Umbria, the Marches and Tuscany.

The High Master of the Grand Committee of the Inner Circle of the One Hundred and Fourteenth Level of the Jargonite Section of the Kasar Galaxy wishes to inform the Razor Contingent of the Golden Galaxy of an important message.
“We have chosen the science-fiction language of the planet Earth to transmit information for the purpose of giving certain clues to key side-beings who have been kept in ignorance for many eons.
“On the physical plane, a number of us have been placed on this planet, which is currently ravaged by dead center-vibrations radiating from the late age of Kali Yuga on the chronological time scale. Our function is to provide clues and make road signs (of which the Morgan Tarot may, or may not, be one) for those who are to usher in the New Age.”

Surrounded by the various and sometimes bizarre creatures of nature, I received a message. It said: “You and the earth are one”.

Sock it to Me

June 23, 2011

These socks are inspired by the rune Jera (pronounced yer-ah). It's the 12th rune of the Elder Futhark, representing the year or the harvest.

Adventures in Sock Knitting ~ stariel.blogspot

Patience up to a point. Know your time, but work your wyrd always.”

Jera is the embodiment of the cyclical pattern of arising-being/becoming-passing-away to new arising. This a basic formula working throughout the Rune row. This Rune is one of the two “central runes” in the scheme of the Elder Futhark, and it defines the cyclical nature of the ever-evolving horizontal plane.
It is the secret of the omnipresent circumference.

Jera is the reward for past actions that are honorable, right, and in accordance with natural law. This has no real moral implications – it is a natural law. If one sows correctly and hamingja (“luck”) is with you then, according to tradition, you will be rewarded with a great reaping. It is the fruition of efforts well spent toward a willed or instinctual goal. This is true and valid for the supernatural as well as the phenomenological realms.

The cosmic fertility aspect of this Rune points to the Vanic god Freya, who is invoked til árs ok fridhar {for good season (harvest) and peace}.

The Old Norse name ár gives us the popular association of this Rune with the Eagle (Old Norse ari) as a symbol of the swift flight of the archetypal sun.

A Rune of beneficial outcomes, Jera applies to any activity or endeavor to which you are committed. Be aware, however, that no quick results can be expected. A span of time is usually involve; hence the key words “One Year,” symbolizing a full cycle before the reaping, the harvest or deliverance.

You have prepared the ground and planted the seed. Now you must cultivate with care. To those whose labor has a long season, a long coming to term, Jera offers encouragement of success. Know that the outcome is in the keeping of Providence and continue to persevere.

Remember the old story about the farmer who was so eager to assist his crops that he went out at night and tugged on the new shoots. There is no way to push the rive; equally you cannot hasten the harvest. Be mindful that patience is essential for the recognition of your own process that, in its season, leads
to the harvest of the self.

The Past

The Harvest

The Harvest

(Reversed) Final effort, last step, remaining work before fruition
Basic Interpretation:
A woman in the fullness of pregnancy, holds the bounty of the fertile countryside. This is the Harvest; the time of reward for long work and dedication. It is the fullness of life, the happy reward and the richness of the season.

The Present

The Jester

The Jester

(Reversed) Secrets, veiled truths, possible danger in direct truth
Basic Interpretation:
Pondering the ways of the world, the Jester sits and contemplates his staff. He has seen much and heard more; his shoulders bear the weight of knowledge that he cannot openly reveal. His jokes mask his wisdom and sometimes keep him alive when his beliefs are unpopular. He is clever, but bound by convention.

The Future

(Reversed) Flighty, clouded, unbounded
Basic Interpretation:
The clear skies hold all the purity and dynamism of human thought. Air itself is the fundamental representative of intellect, thought, memory and wisdom. It is a fundamental force; without direction but able to be channeled by those who wish to focus its power. The winds of this card are always blowing, rarely seen and eternally present.

Take me to your Wing-nut!

Psychologically, this card might express the individual’s feeling of alienation or separation from the environment.

In reality, of course, having come from Arcantmycin, the sixteenth planet in the Wycloxian systems of Andromeda, you are having great difficulty acting like an earthling, especially since your memory was wiped out at birth and you don’t realize you’re an alien. Still, knowledge of your origin might enable you to adapt to the ways of the natives.

Planet Squirrel

When the aliens first visited Earth, the squirrels were the first creatures to approach and communicate with them. For this friendly gretting, the squirrels were blessed by the aliens with intelligence and insight beyond their mamalian ancestory. Quickly adapting to all planetary conditions and viruses, the squirrel thrives today among the human race with a grace and ease like that of no other animal. The human populace is largely unaware of the cosmic ancestory and magesty of the squirrel and has become so accostomed to seeing the animal, that they barely devote a thought to them. Much to the loss and eventual downfall of humanity.[Read More]

WYN/Wunjo is the inner urge for realization of your soul’s true will to achieve perfection of consciousness and the drive to this realization in this life-time.

Alienation and failing community is a severe problem in our society now, which can be deeply troubling to almost every human exchange we engage in. Alienation presents itself as mistrust. In a social group with no overriding objective, it’s only a nuisance. In a community service group, the project fails. In a family, it can lead to disaster. Wyn/Wunjo can reduce alienation by broadcasting love into the chaotic human energy field.

The 7 of Pentacles (Coins) show a woman tending her garden – she has a basket of flowers she’s picked and a hose to water it all, and she is looking with pride and pleasure at a tree bearing seven brightly colored pentacles.

It’s worth noting that they are the fruit of a tree and not one of the flowers – she didn’t plant these a few weeks ago or even last season – for this tree to bear fruit it was planted years ago and has been tended and cared for ever since.  And while it is clearly nearing time to harvest the fruit, she isn’t doing so yet.. Pick the flowers while you may, but leave the fruit until it is fully ripe or it will be at best tasteless and hard, and at worst bitter and completely unusable.

The 7 of Pentacles is about patience, and knowing how to tend to what’s necessary while waiting for the right time to reap the reward – no jumping the gun or trying to hurry things along here – the time spent waiting is part of the necessary process that allows the fruit to ripen to its fullest juicy sweetness.  And in the meantime, there are plenty of flowers to offer their shorter term pleasures.

Finding Your Norse Star

The laws of Spiritual Quantum Physics tell us that there exists an infinite ocean of thinking, intelligent energy called the Quantum Ocean (Mimir’s Well).

Everything that is, was or will be exists there. There is no time nor space there. Only the NOW!

The energies of the runes exist there and have always existed there. Even before Odin, the All Father hung from the tree for 9 days and nights and reached into the Quantum Ocean to rediscover them.

Every 2000 years humanity, on the planet Earth, is introduced to a new Galactic energy and set of laws. These are to be used to build a new reality different from the past age.

There is an old saying ‘you cannot put new wine into old flasks.’ For rune masters you cannot put Aquarian age mental energy into Piscean age rune rituals.

Therefore use your mind to update all your rune rituals. Create and invent new ones. How? That is what being a rune master is all about.

Mimir's Well, Shire of Mountain Freehold

Look how one man, Constantine, in the third century, at the beginning of the Piscean Age invented Christianity. Look at the devastation that he has done to our ancestral soul. Surely one of you can out do him in the next 2000 years. At least start it!

Think newer and bigger thoughts. You have the Quantum Ocean with all the Norse Gods/Goddesses and the power of the runes to strengthen to think new, bigger thoughts into our ancestral soul.

Let the seeds develop in their own way

Thunder appears in the sky and awakens the myriad creatures, filling them with vitality. It is the right time to cultivate crops, but you must take care not to forge ahead; nothing can be forced to grow in a hurry.

A setback may occur, but if you adhere to the proper principles this event will resolve itself, and you will have an abundant harvest.
